According to German law, the creation of pseudonymous profiles by using websites is feasible if a right of objection is granted to the persons concerned. An explicit authorisation is required only if personalised profiles or profiles beyond online use are created. All online and offline activities of their customers can be merged by companies when those specifications are fulfilled; such data can theoretically even be used for the personalization of offers and prizes.
