In November 2005 the United Nations adopted the first Convention on electronic communications. The Convention not only provides uniform rules for professional electronic commerce but also modernizes the language of earlier treaties. The new instrument recognizes electronic communications and contracts, creates rules on the classification of web pages as invitation to treat and provides for treatment of input error. However, consumer oriented Internet trade has been excluded from the scope of application of the Convention, together with financial transactions and documents of titles.
