In 2021 the European Commission proposed a new framework for Artificial Intelligence made in Europe. Within the consortium of the XAIface project, which aims to analyze the legal and ethical framework for AI-based Facial Recognition (FRT), the team at University at Vienna dissect the new proposals and demonstrates their implications for FRTs. The following article will examine selected provisions of the proposal for an AI-Act.
